A forgotten international journal in post-Trianon Hungary – Palaeontologia Hungarica
Abstract
The Palaeontologia Hungarica was an international palaeontological journal, published between 1921 and 1927 in Budapest. Edited by István Majer, assistant professor at Pázmány Péter University in Budapest, co-edited by palaeontologist Franz Nopcsa and zoologist Géza Gyula Fejérváry, both scientists of world renown. We seek answers to the questions: (1) what endeavours created the journal and (2) what circumstances led to its disappearance, (3) how could a dilapidated Hungary create and maintain a world-class scientific journal, even for a short time.
