Article review: Community-generated behavioral health data for informed public health decisions
Abstract
The study’s approach offers lessons relevant to public health in Hungary, particularly in the areas of mental health, prevention, and primary care. Strengthening community participation is not only a democratic value but also has practical benefits: it contributes to a more accurate identification of real needs, more targeted planning of interventions, and increased trust in the healthcare system.
In the Hungarian context, there is particularly great potential in involving primary care, public health nurse services, health promotion offices, as well as social and other community-based services. These institutions are so deeply embedded in their local communities that they are well-suited to systematically channel community experiences into public health planning.
