Report: ESPAD 2024 – Risk Behaviours and Addictive Problems Among Secondary School Students in Hungary Over the Past 30 Years – Trends, International Context, and Risk Factors

Abstract

This review presents the main content and methodological elements of the volume titled “ESPAD 2024 – Risky Behaviors and Substance Use Disorders Among High School Students in Hungary Over the Past 30 Years. Trends – International Context – Risk Factors,” which summarizes the findings of the European School Survey Project on Alcohol and Other Drugs (ESPAD). It places particular emphasis on three-decade trends in adolescents’ risk behaviors, international comparability, and multidisciplinary interpretive approaches. The significance of this volume extends beyond addiction research: it also provides relevant data for public health, sociology, psychology, and educational research. The manuscript offers recommendations regarding which professional communities will find the report particularly valuable and how it can be utilized in prevention and health promotion practices.
