Article review: Broadening sources of finance for health promotion and disease prevention - Smart capacitating investment

Abstract

The application of SCI models in Central Europe is hampered by the underdevelopment of the investor ecosystem—which is typically nonprofit or socially committed—required by most of these models. At the same time, with effective government coordination, these solutions can help, from the provider side, to deepen cooperation among various public sectors and to involve the civil society and the broader public more intensively in health promotion and disease prevention programs. Furthermore, the concept helps emphasize the investment perspective of prevention, rather than a purely expenditure-based approach.
