The tasks of the European Union Civil Protection Team Bravo safety officer after the turkish earthquakes 06/02/2023

Abstract

As a result of the February 6, 2023 earthquakes in Turkey, national and international rescue teams were confronted with countless missing persons, injured and victims. The trying life-saving tasks lasted almost three weeks, and then the restoration and reconstruction tasks slowly followed. The author became involved the humanitarian tasks as a security officer of the Bravo Civil Protection Team of the European Union, spending 18 operational days in the disaster-affected region. In his presentation, he introduced details of the operation of the international UN and EU coordination units, the tasks performed in his professional position, as well as his practical experience gained during the deployment.
