Abstract

Teemu Lahteenmaki is a firefighter from Finland with several decades of experience, who served as an expert selected for the European Union Civil Protection team to help with the elimination of the consequences of the earthquakes in Turkey in 2023. In the course of his activity, he performed security tasks, as part of which he inspected buildings damaged by earthquakes. He successfully developed an inspection method with the help of which it was possible to analyze and evaluate the inspection of various buildings accurately and precisely, but at the same time quickly. At the VI. Civil Protection Workshop event, he gave his presentation under the title "Building assessment of damaged buildings under extraordinary conditions", where he reported to the participants about what he experienced in the area affected by the earthquake. In his presentation, he pointed out the safety-enhancing measures that can be used to increase prevention and the performance of operational tasks near buildings.
