The socialist style reorganization of the hungarian fire department

Abstract

The reorganization of the fire department on a socialist model began in 1947, when the National Fire Department was established. The process started earlier, in 1945, and lasted until 1955: the organizational framework of the fire department was abolished and the unified state fire department was created. From the territorial public administration, the fire police (fire protection administration) became a state law enforcement task. Later, as a result of full-scale centralization, the National Firefighter High Command was abolished and the V. Fire Police Department of the Ministry of the Interior was established as a central governing body.
