Centuries of the protection against the ice floods

Abstract

In the recent years, the ice related events on our rivers showed that even though due to the Hungarian climate the ice events are irregular, the dangers of ice floods have not passed. With technical interaction, most of these events can be manipulated. Still, there is no way to manipulate weather, therefor there is always a chance of ice floods duo to the forming and passing of ice. There is always a chance for water level and temperature, which will cause the stuck ice to pass. After finding still ice of river curve, it will jam, forming ice blocks in these cases, the effectiveness of technical interaction is doubtful, and may have catastrophic consequences. The repair and upgrade of ice breaking ships served the purpose of extending of regular ship usage time, but nowadays it serves as protection against ice floods and in case of catastrophic events.
