Overview of firefighters training in some surrpunding EU countries

Abstract

With the introduction of an intagrated disaster management system, disaster protection tasks have increased, the implementation of which BM OKF (National Directorate General for Disaster Managemnet) has assigned an important role for professional and voluntary fire service. The work of voluntary fire service is indispensable in support of damage management of professional fire service. However, in order to ensure proceeding and intervention tasks, the theoretical and practical preparedness and training of the intervening firefighter have a major role. Examination of foreign cases and the training system of firefighter in some surrounding countries can be greatly contributed to improve the training conditions and to modernize the methods applied. The author of this article examined the fire fighting system of the neighboring countries Austria, Slovenia and Slovakia. By publishing his experience, he
intends to contribute to the development of firefighting training in Hungary.
