Abstract

Many fields of science proved the beneficial impact of the physical exercise from physiological, psychological and educational point of view. Likewise it is widely accepted that sport is able to overcome the language and cultural barriers more easily than the other areas of social life. The Council of Europe’s “Sports for all” concept presents sport and recreation as an opportunity that needs to be granted to everyone who wishes to participate, regardless of social status, origin or disability. In spite of the facts stated above, the role of sport in prison gets relatively little attention.
