Information For Authors

Apis is an international, peer-reviewed, Diamond Open Access journal dedicated to all aspects of honeybee and pollinator-related sciences, including beekeeping, apitherapy, bee biology, pollination ecology, technology, and rural development.

All articles are published under the Creative Commons licence CC BY-NC-ND, allowing free reading, downloading, copying, and linking for non-commercial purposes.

The journal operates on a community-driven, non-profit basis, without governmental or corporate funding.
Authors, reviewers, and editors work collaboratively to ensure that publication opportunities are accessible regardless of financial background.

Submission and Review

Manuscripts must be written in English (British spelling) and submitted online through the journal’s system:
https://ojs.mtak.hu/index.php/Apis

All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by at least three independent experts.
Editorial decisions are based solely on the scientific quality, originality, and relevance of the work.
Reviewers are volunteers and do not receive any financial compensation for their contribution.

Fees and Community Contribution

There are no article processing charges (APCs).
To sustain essential technical and editorial costs (such as DOI registration, hosting, and long-term archiving),
authors are asked to make a modest administrative contribution before the review process begins:

  • €100 as a flat administrative fee

  • €300 in the case of research directly related to specifically named, commercially available products

As part of the community model, the submitting author also undertakes to review four (4) future manuscripts from other researchers within their field of expertise.
This contribution and commitment do not influence editorial or peer-review decisions in any way.

Formatting and Ethics

Authors should follow the detailed Author Guidelines and Citation Rules.
All research must comply with ethical standards and the journal’s Code of Ethics.
Authors are required to provide complete references with DOI numbers where available.

Open Access and Copyright

All content is freely accessible without restriction.
Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right to publish the work under the terms of the CC BY-NC-ND licence.
Reproduction for non-commercial purposes is permitted with proper citation of the original source.
