Screening strategies for pancreatic cancer

Keywords: pancreatic cancer, adenocarcinoma, screening, surveillance, diabetes mellitus, endoscopic ultrasound

Abstract

The life incidence of pancreatic cancer is 1,3%, but the incidence and mortality rates are getting higher. The disease has a really poor prognosis, the 5 year survival rate is about 10-13%. Due to the high incidence rate and poor prognosis comes the question whether with screening can we improve the prognosis, and if yes, which patients and how should we screen?
