Short-term results with cementless total knee arthroplasty in our Clinic

Abstract

Considering that fact that the knee prosthesis are implanted in more and more early age the revision
surgeries are needed more and more often. The goals of the cementless total knee replacement are
durability and better function. Although the clinical outcomes of the cementless technique are good
the longevity of these prostheses is especially important. The authors reported the experiences with 24
cementless knee prostheses. 8 men and 13 women were operated and 3 bilateral implantations were
done (in different time points). The mean follow-up was 2,25 years (range 12–63 mounths). The mean
KSS was preoperatively 56.34 and increased to a value of 84.18 after the operations. The mean range of
motions increased from 103.2° to 120.4°. During the radiological evaluation neither aseptic loosening nor
septic complications were found. Considering the Knee Society Score (KSS) the radiological and clinical
outcomes and the patient-satisfaction the outcomes were excellent. Cementless knee endoprosthesis
maintain an important surgical option in younger patients.
