Abstract

Scaphoid Nonunion Advanced Collapse (SNAC) and Scapholunate Advanced Collapse (SLAC) are the result of inadequate management of fresh injuries in the vast majority of cases. Even when only "symptomatic" treatment is possible, the main goals of treatment are to reduce pain and maintain stability and range of motion. For both deformities, a variety of surgical techniques are available, depending on the different stages. Based on patient data from the Department of Sports Medicine, Orthopaedic Clinic of Semmelweis University and the National Institute of Sports Medicine, we investigated the results of four corner fusion (4CF) in terms of range of motion, strength and functional hand complaints for daily activities and work, using relevant questionnaires and measurements. Our results suggest that, similar to what has been found in the literature, the 4CF intervention may be a good alternative in stage II and III wrist osteoarthritis caused by SNAC and SLAC.
