Infrastructure development needs of electric scooter users in the Hungarian city Győr
Abstract
The main objective of Hungary's electric mobility strategy is to promote the spread of electric vehicles. However, the different types of electric vehicles have different transport infrastructure and charging needs, which the current infrastructure network cannot or can only partially meet, especially for electric micro-mobility vehicles. The growing share of electric scooters (e-scooters) among conventional vehicles requires an increase in the current service level both in terms of charging and transport infrastructure network. There is currently no charging station in Győr located on public land suitable for charging micromobility devices, and the transport needs of e-scooters cannot be provided by the existing transport infrastructure networks at an adequate level of service. A survey on the facility choice of electric scooter users in Győr showed that most electric scooter users use cycling infrastructure
for their daily transport. However, Győr's bicycle transport network is already severely lacking in capacity, it is mostly characterized by bottlenecks and, due to the large proportion of common pedestrian-bicycle surfaces, traffic conflicts between road users are often visible, which problems will become even more pronounced in the future due to the further spread of electric scooters.
