Abstract

The North Carolina Healthy Food Small Retailer Program (Healthy Food Small Retailer Program, HFSRP) was enacted with an annual budget of 250 000 USD of which a maximal amount of 25 000 USD is provided for eligible convenience stores procurement of equipment for the storage of healthy food and beverages (healthy foods). The article presented is one that describes an observational natural experiment documenting the effect of HFSRP on the food supply of the shops and to the customers' shopping habits and diet.
