Abstract

The front-of-pack label is a potential tool to improve the nutritional habits of the population. Several voluntary nutrition labeling schemes are currently available on the market. As the harmonization of schemes within the EU is under discussion, it is important that their relative comprehensibility (ability to correctly classify products according to their nutritional value) and effectiveness (consumers' choice of a healthier nutrient composition) are also being assessed in the Member States.
