Abstract

One of the main tasks of the Prison Service is to reduce the risk of reoffending. Prison reintegration officers also play a key role in this task as part of the reintegration area and activity. As described in this study, their tasks are complex, yet at the same time built on each other. Prison probation officers are crime prevention professionals, who use effective methods and even combine those for a single purpose: to help the social reintegration of convicts, prisoners and released detainees under probation and after-release care to reintegrate into society and therefore minimize the risk of their reoffending. The study focuses on presenting the results achieved during the past three years. The reader may see the successes through on one hand the analysis of the different type of professional activities carried out, and on the other hand through the description of the main methods used. The study also addresses the legal institutions intended to be introduced, which will significantly increase the range of the ways and means used by the Prison Service, and may further increase the chances of successful social reintegration.
