Innovative applications for virtual assistants in the Hungarian Prison Service

Abstract

The rise of digitalization and artificial intelligence in recent decades has fundamentally changed the way the prison service operates. For the Hungarian Prison Service, introducing innovations is crucial not only from an administrative point of view, but also in terms of security and reintegration. The study presents the concept of ‘Aurora’, an imagined virtual system based on artificial intelligence that would be capable of automating everyday tasks, improving information flow, and providing personalized assistance to staff and inmates. ‘Aurora’s’ activities would be complemented by virtual assistants who would help with the work of various departments and the daily lives of inmates. The introduction of this system can promote not only the modernization of the prison service, but also social reintegration, while taking into account the fundamental requirements of security and legality.
