Fees and Community Contribution

Readers

There are no fees or charges for readers to access any article published in APIS.
All content is freely available online under a Gold Open Access model.

Authors

APIS operates on a community-driven, non-profit basis, where authors, reviewers, and editors collectively sustain the publication process.

Authors are expected to contribute to this scholarly community by participating in the peer review process within their field of expertise whenever possible.
This mutual exchange of time and knowledge supports a fair and sustainable publication system independent of financial background.

Authors should prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the journal’s formatting and ethical guidelines.
In the final editing stage, only minor corrections are made in the annotated PDF version to minimize editorial workload.

Administrative Contributions

For essential technical and administrative tasks that cannot be covered by volunteer work — such as DOI registration, OJS hosting, and long-term archiving — authors are asked for the following flat, non-refundable contributions:

  • €100 contribution (via credit card or wire transfer) — for general submissions
  • €300 contribution — for studies directly related to specifically named, commercially available products, where additional verification or handling costs may arise

These contributions have no influence on editorial or peer-review decisions and are not related to the acceptance of manuscripts.
They exist solely to maintain the journal’s technical infrastructure and long-term sustainability as a community-based, non-profit initiative.
