Navigare necesse est …
Abstract
Már a hetvenedik jubileumát ünneplő tudományos közlekedési szaklapunktól kapott megtisztelő felkérés pillanatában felvetődött bennem a kérdés, hogy milyen címet is adhatnék a hajózás helyzetét áttekintő írásnak. Több divatos szlogen is szóbajött, de mindezek ellenére mégis a fenti klasszikus, már-már közhelyesnek ható idézet mellett
maradtam, amely teljes egészében így hangzik: „Navigare necesse est, vivere non est necesse”, azaz „Hajózni kell, élni nem muszáj”. Vajon miért is lehet még a mai nap is aktuális Cnaeus Pompeius Magnus római hadvezérnek a viharos tengertől megriadó hajósokat bíztató üzenete?
