Implementation phases of an LNG terminal in Hungary
Abstract
Already in the period 2007-2014, EU developments have been characterized by the proliferation of Baltic shipping environmental standards and onshore LNG terminals, with Rotterdam having a major impact, shifting the focus of development to inland waterway applications. A number of EU supply points have been developed along the Danube, including on the
TEN-T corridors for road supply, followed by the creation of small-scale terminals and associated LNG carriers and bunker vessels through technical improvements in Interreg developments. The article describes the implementation of the development programme of the study plan and design work for the domestic trimodal terminal developed under the PANLNG4Danube project, led by MAHART Plc, and jointly implemented by domestic and Chinese experts through an EU CEFfunded tender during 2018-2021.
