Abstract

Since 2018, the sector responsible for the primary share of CO2 emissions in Hungary has been transport, followed by the energy industry. Decarbonising the transport sector is key to achieving the objectives of the Paris Agreement. One possible solution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is to use alternative fuel heavy-duty vehicles and build the infrastructure of the refuelling stations supplying them. The present study examines the potential location and distribution of hydrogen refuelling stations for heavy-duty hydrogen vehicles by comparing data of several factors. In the course of site analysis, different scenarios have been proposed for locating of hydrogen refuelling stations. Hydrogen refuelling stations of different  priorities have been designated mainly at rest areas on the Hungarian sections of the Trans-European Transport Network.
