Investigation of transport parallelism along the Győr-Balaton railway axis
Abstract
The aim of the paper is therefore to optimise the operation of the Győr- Siófok interregional railway axis. By eliminating the current wasteful duplication, a significantly more efficient transport system
could be created and achieved. The necessary improvements to the road and rail infrastructure could have a significant social impact in the area concerned, making the area around the line more liveable.
Bus services on the line would not diminish but increase travel options, giving the travelling public new opportunities rather than depriving them of the current familiar system. Obviously, the aim is not to eliminate parallel transport completely in order to meet the needs of commuter traffic, but to maximise the amount and efficiency of work sharing that can be achieved.
