Future emission type-approval test requirements for internal combustion engines for cars
Abstract
The type approval regulations regarding exhaust tailpipe emission of passenger cars place ever greater demands on vehicle and engine manufacturers. One of the technical solutions may be the application of the stoichiometric fuel-air mixture in the whole engine characteristic map in order to comply with the requirements of the EURO 7 emission standard. Our article illustrates the theoretical background of the λ = 1 operation. That is why we analyse the technical possibilities.
