Priority of patient information from a patient rights perspective (comparison 2021-2023)
Abstract
Since the entry into force of Act CLIV of 1997 on health care, the right to be informed has been granted to patients at all levels of the health care system. Patients and their relatives are increasingly aware of patients' rights and strive to use and enforce them properly. At the same time/ in parallel, it is also worth reviewing whether healthcare providers are properly applying patient rights provisions in their daily activities. The day-to-day work of patient rights representatives is a major indicator of the number and distribution of violations of individual patient rights in the provision of healthcare services. This short summary looks at the statistics from the last three years' reports, which are available on the website of the Integrated Legal Protection Service, and examines one of the most frequently violated patient rights, the right to be informed. These statistics show that the right to be informed is the third most frequently violated right. The way in which information is provided to patients concerns all actors in the health sector, the health care provider primarily in terms of complaint investigation, the patient and/or relatives in terms of the outcome of their illness and accurate patient tracking. A common goal is given: UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER WELL! Finding each other's voice is essential for complaint-free and satisfied patient care.
