Abstract

First, the paper presents the approach of the OECD in which social capital is interpreted as an essential component of well-being. This introduction is followed by the presentation of the OECD’s definition of social capital. Then an overview is given, in this overview those concepts and measures of social capital are outlined which were applied by previous Hungarian representative health surveys. The analysis is closed by some remarks; these remarks have a closer look at the social capital part of our national health surveys from the point of view of the given OECD framework.
