Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The manuscript has not been previously published in another journal and is not currently under review elsewhere.
- The Authors agree to transfer the right of first publication to the Egészségfejlesztés.
- The article published on the Journal’s website is freely accessible to everyone, and the available version may be freely shared provided that the original source is properly acknowledged.
- In the event of legal disputes, the applicable laws and regulations concerning the rights and obligations of the Author and the Publisher shall prevail, in particular Act LXXVI of 1999 on Copyright.
- The final version of the manuscript has been read and approved by all authors.
- The Authors have clearly acknowledged the work of others through proper and consistent referencing, and they have also cited their own previous publications where applicable. No substantial parts of previous texts have been reused without appropriate citation. Therefore, both plagiarism and self-plagiarism can be excluded in the case of the submitted manuscript.
Original Article - Research
Under this column, the authors shall present their research findings and conclusions based on them in the light of the backgrounds and international data.
Required structure:
- Hungarian Összefoglaló and English Summary, each up to 500 words, structured as follows: Background, Methodology, Results, Conclusions;
- Kulcsszavak/Keywords (3–5, lowercase, separated by semicolons…entered individually into OJS using the Enter key);
- Introduction, including background, previous work, aims and/or research question;
- Methodology; if artificial intelligence-based technologies were used during data collection, analysis, or figure preparation, the details must be provided here;
- Results, including, among other things, the characteristics of the sample;
- Discussion;
- Conclusions;
- References: list of cited literature.
The main text should preferably not exceed 3,000 words. This word count does not include tables, keywords, figures, or references.
Original Article - Review
The publications under this column summarize and critically evaluate the literature on a specific topic, collected by the author using a preset methodology. The preset search-, selection- and evaluation methodology should be described in the manuscript.
Required structure:
- Hungarian Összefoglaló and English Summary, each up to 500 words, structured as follows: Background, Methodology, Results, Conclusions;
- Kulcsszavak/Keywords (3–5, lowercase, separated by semicolons…entered individually into OJS using the Enter key);
- Introduction, including background, previous work, aims and/or research question;
- Methodology; if artificial intelligence-based technologies were used during data collection, analysis, or figure preparation, the details must be provided here;
- Results;
- Discussion;
- Conclusions;
- References: list of cited literature.

Original Article - Agora
The column aims to promote a constructive professional dialogue by publishing opinions, ideas, and discussion papers in the field of health promotion. The views expressed in the Agora column are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the Editorial Board.
Required structure:
- Hungarian Összefoglaló and English Summary, each up to 500 words, structured as follows: Background, Opinion, Conclusions;
- Kulcsszavak/Keywords (3–5, lowercase, separated by semicolons…entered individually into OJS using the Enter key);
- Introduction, including background, previous work, aims and/or question addressed;
- Opinion;
- Conclusions;
- References: list of cited literature.
The main text should preferably not exceed 3,000 words. This word count does not include tables, keywords, figures, or references.
Review Section
The Review Section publishes short summaries of articles that have been published and peer reviewed elsewhere (Article Review), brief reviews of books or other publications (Book Review), and recommendations of current issues of other journals (Recommendation).
Within the Review Section, the Report subsection presents concepts, recommendations, guidelines and methodological guides related to health promotion. It also introduces statements, key working papers, reports, other important documents, and websites of Hungarian and international public health organisations.
Required structure:
- A title chosen by the author, provided in both Hungarian and English. The first word of the title must indicate the subsection, in the following format: Article review: Title; Book review: Title; Recommendation: Title; Report: Title.
For example: Article review: System-based prevention of childhood obesity – N3.0 in practice
- Full bibliographic reference of the article, book, document, website, or other source being reviewed.
- If the length or complexity of the reviewed text requires it, a Hungarian Összefoglaló and an English Summary, each up to 500 words, may be included. The structure of the summary is determined by the author.
- Kulcsszavak/Keywords: 3-5 keywords, written in lower case and separated by semicolons; in OJS, keywords must be entered one by one, separated by pressing Enter.
- The review text, preferably following the structure of the original document.
- At the end of the review, a key message for (Hungarian) professionals, formulated by the reviewer in 3-5 sentences under the subheading Recommendations for Professionals (in Hungary).
- References: list of cited literature, if the author refers to any source other than the reviewed material.
The main text should preferably not exceed 1,000 words, or 3,500 words in the case of Report. This word count does not include keywords, figures, tables, or references.
Other Articles
The Other Articles section includes advance notices of professional events, reports on events that have already taken place, and introductions to professional organisations or outstanding professionals.
The structure of articles in this section is determined by the author. Their length should preferably not exceed 300 words.
Comments
This section publishes comments or opinions related to articles published in the journal or, in exceptional cases, elsewhere. The title of the comment may be chosen by the author, but the article to which the comment refers must be cited in the first sentence. Authors may also refer to other relevant literature. Comments should preferably not exceed 500 words.
