Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submitted file is an anonymised document in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word or RTF format.
  • It is a requirement when submitting to declare if any authors have used generative AI or AI-assisted technological methods to prepare this manuscript paper and supplementary documents. If GenAI is used in writing, please list the software tools or services used, how they were used, and for what reason they were used. CogSust Ltd. reserves the right to conduct an investigation and authors will be held fully responsible for the content of the submitted paper. If in doubt, please tick the box and disclose the details of using GenAI and related tools.
  • The manuscript is prepared in the Cognitive Sustainability template.
  • All authors, affiliations and email addresses are properly specified in the submission web page.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Where available, URLs and DOIs for the references have been provided.
  • Article Processing charges will be 300 EUR + 27% VAT.

Author Guidelines

 

Please use our WORD template and upload an anonymised document. 

All submissions are subject to peer review. A double-blind peer-review system is used, in which authors do not know the reviewers’ names, and reviewers do not know the authors’ identities. The reviewers are international experts in the field, and any potential conflicts of interest with the authors are carefully avoided. Reviews are based on an objective evaluation of the manuscript’s scientific merit and its contribution to the state of the art. Editors and reviewers handle all submissions with strict confidentiality

Authors are obliged to participate in the peer review process, follow the advice of the reviewers, meet the required deadlines, and provide retractions or corrections of mistakes if any occur.

In this journal, downloading articles is free of charge, and open access. The journal does charge authors with article processing charges (APCs) of 300 EUR. Users have the right to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of these articles.

Publishing Ethics

The publisher and the editors are committed to maintain high ethical standards and prevent publications where research misconduct has occurred. The authors are fully responsible for the content of their manuscript, even those parts produced by an AI tool, and are thus liable for any breach of publication ethics. In case of plagiarism or when the manuscript contains anything libellous, obscene, infringes on anyone’s copyright, right of privacy, or other rights, the publisher holds the right to reject the manuscript or publish corrections after the article has already been published. In case of any allegation of misconduct, the editor deals with the allegation appropriately. In such ethical issues, including also retractions and corrections, the COPE guidelines are followed.

Review and Publishing process

Each paper is evaluated through a blind peer-review process. For every submission, formal requirements, plagiarism, and grammar are first checked. Then, at least two independent reviewers – experts in the field who are not part of the journal’s editorial staff – are invited to conduct the review. If necessary, an additional reviewer from the editorial board may also be requested. Our review form, used in the peer-review process, includes both a questionnaire section and a textual evaluation section. Each reviewer provides a recommendation to the editors, who make the final decision. The complete publishing process is outlined below:
