Abstract

The study provides an overview of the successes of the labour market integration of Hungarian women living in Austria. The paper is based on the results of a non-representative quantitative survey. The integration success is presented using an indicator of labour market status and the degree of disqualification, a so-called career benefit indicator, which is used for the first time in migration research. Our research data show that Hungarian women in Austria are typically able to find a job, but are significantly de-skilled, which is mainly protected by a high level of language skills. Apart from the strong effect of language skills, age, length of time spent in migration and the fact of having children do not play a significant role in the chances of disqualification. However, in addition to language skills, the number of years spent in migration also influences the chances of losing a career.
