Absztrakt
Idén nyáron már 110 éve annak, hogy kitört az egész 20. századot alapjaiban meghatározó első világháború, vagy ahogyan a kortársak hívták a Nagy Háború. A négyéven át tartó konfliktus nem csupán a hadszíntereken zajlott, hanem gyökeresen alakította át a hadviselő államok hátországainak mindennapjait is. A férfiak nagy részét besorozták, az otthonmaradottakra és a nőkre várt a feladat, hogy megteremtsék a háború folytatásához nélkülözhetetlen gazdasági és szociális feltételeket. A tanulmányban az antanthoz-tartozó Nagy-Britannia kapcsán vizsgálom meg, hogy miként változtatta meg az első világégés, a nők 19. században kialakult hagyományos társadalmi és gazdasági szerepét, illetve hogyanalakulta társadalmi megítéltségük a háborús körülményekkövetkeztében.Milyen tevékenységeket folytattak a hátországban, illetve a harctereken.
