Abstract
In the 2016/1 issue of the Hungarian Prison Review we discussed the main issues related to the activities and life of the serial killers before their lockup. We gave a comprehensive picture about the origin and the meaning of the term “serial killer”; we discussed the general characteristics of the serial killers. We gave an overview about the main ideas on how to make distinctions and how to classify them into different types, and we examined the features of the female serial killers. In this current issue we examine the characteristics of the lives of serial killers behind both international and Hungarian bars. In the following issue we will analyze the “real life imprisonment”, which has just over fifteen years of past to look back on. This sentence is imposed to the majority of the serial killers; we will examine its past, its current practices and will formulate proposals in order to change this legal institute.
