Abstract

The Act CX of 2017 on Criminal Procedure entered into force on 1st July 2018, which has fundamentally changed the structure of the investigation distinguishing the phases of the detection and inquiry. The main criticism against the former criminal procedure code was the prolonged proceedings. Regarding to this phenomenon the legislator sought to introduce new solutions aiming to comply the requirement of timeliness. For that reason the legislator offered much more role to the defendant’s confession, which can be realised in the framework of a new form of the criminal procedure, namely the agreement, furthermore the agreements can come true during the preparation of the first instance trial. In both cases it is possible to make judgement of guilty and thereby to solve the case rapidly.
