The socialization role of the APAC group during and after the imprisonment

Abstract

In my study, I looked for similarities between the association for the protection and assistance of the convicted (APAC) and social pedagogical methods. The method, elaborated in more detail, provides an opportunity for penitentiary institutions to perform their educating and human improving activities more effectively. Thus, the number of recidivists may be drastically reduced as a result of which the negative social perception and burden can decrease, social responsibilities grow stronger and the released prisoners may carry on with their life as useful members of the society. The main motive is the development of emotional intelligence, which develops all other skills and abilities. APAC method’s complex, multi-point intervening system can bring a throughout change of personality. The working method of this is a small group: this provides the opportunity for personalized, controlled development, taking advantage of the strong need for belonging to the group.
