Future technologies in probation supervision of the Prison Service

Abstract

The aim of the project is to introduce a modern, digital system for probation officers, which will reduce administrative burdens, streamline work processes, and make communication with probationers more efficient. The new system would allow probation officers to spend more time on personal mentoring, thereby promoting the successful reintegration of probationers and reducing recidivism rates. The program would also focus on digital training for probationers, which would bridge the ‘digital gap’. Proposals include the introduction of the electronic case management system, the secure communication platforms, and the decision support based on predictive analytics. The expected outcomes of the project include a reduction in administrative time, a decrease in recidivism rates, and an increase in public safety. Based on an analysis of economic data, the initial investments could be recouped quickly and could also yield significant long-term benefits for society.
