Positive results of the coronavirus epidemic, nationally renewed protocols and methodologies, unified procedures

Abstract

With the appearance of the virus called COVID-19, the task to protect the health of staff and prisoners, as well as preventing the risk of infection in Hungarian prisons was set as the priority by the Hungarian Prison Service. Given that the penitentiary institutions are closed institutions (in which the virus spreads faster), it was essential to introduce preventive measures and to develop new procedures and protocols as soon as possible. In my study, I would like to present the pandemic-related measures introduced in Hungarian prisons – especially in the Budapest Remand Prison – in as much detail as possible, and the positive results of the measures (in terms of health, safety, personnel and detention).
