The classification of convicts, the principles of the category and credit system based on the 2024 law amendmen

Abstract

In the first quarter of 2024, the legal framework of the prison system changed significantly, which fundamentally determines its structure. The purpose of this study is to briefly present the reasons behind the amendment of the law, on the other hand, to outline the main framework of the new professional system.The study presents the two defining elements of the new law: a) the category system that replaces the levels of execution, the regime system and the security risk classification, and b) the credit system that ensures an advancement/progress framework for prisoners.
