Reoffending risk factors of the convicted prisoners placed into the first time offender special department – How do they differ from the average prison population?
Abstract
In our research by using data from the Risk Assessment Tool of the Hungarian Prisoner Classification and Risk Analysis System we examined the differences between the detainees placed in the special department for the for the first time imprisoned and the general prison population regarding recidivism risk factors. We found that both static and dynamic risk factors were less frequent in the group of prisoners placed in the special department for the first time offenders. These findings further justify the benefits of the segregation of those who have been sentenced to imprisonment for the first time.
