‘New opportunity’ – Presentation of the Residential Reentry Center programs

Abstract

The activities to support reintegration goals already begin within the walls of the penitentiary. Part of the preparation for release is to examine the detainee’s receiving environment. If this is absent or criminological infected, then the reintegration is hampered by obstacles.In order to reduce the risk of recidivism – based on international and domestic experience – the Hungarian Prison Service Headquarters implements the Residential Reentry Center program, where the primary task is to provide a complex service for released convicts and detainees under reintegration custody, in which the main pillars of the prevention relapse coexist.
