The reintegration activity of the Prison Service from the perspective of the prosecutor responsible for the supervision of the legality of the execution of punishments and measures
Abstract
One of the fundamental aims of the execution of imprisonment and thus of the Prison Service is the successful reintegration of convicts. The reintegration activity is a rather complex professional task, which – as other activities of the Prison Service concerning prisoners – has to be regulated under the law in force. In view of this, the prosecutorial supervision of legality covers the execution of reintegration tasks as well, although during the realization of the reintegration function mainly professional expectations have to be fulfilled. At the same time, one must not forget the fact that professional task performance can be imagined only in the frame of legal enforcement. The purpose of this study is to introduce through current examples the relationship between reintegration activity and prosecutorial supervision of legality and how supervision of legality exercised by the Prosecution Service can help the successful reintegration of convicts nowadays.
