Education of detainees, support of social reintegration

Abstract

The success of reintegration depends to a large extent, among other things as well, on what kind of efforts the prison service makes to bring detainees back into society with more knowledge and a different outlook on life than they had before arriving within the prison walls. Therefore, it is essential to promote education, which allows the released prisoner to choose from a wider range of sustainment options – especially if the prisoner can also gain practical experience. If we also encourage active repentance of the committed crime and the detainee voluntarily compensates for the damage caused and accepts society, then we have already done much to make the prisoner after serving the sentence a member of society who lives according to rules.
