Protection against the coronavirus – Homeland operational tasks of the Hungarian Armed Forces to deal with the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic
Abstract
The coronavirus epidemic, which was identified in 2019 and reaching global levels in 2020, has posed challenges to countries around the world, including our country, that have not been seen for nearly 100 years. In contrary to the management of relevant natural hazards, such as floods or extreme weather events, the management of biological hazards caused by the epidemic involved a long-term defence response, which meant a completely new approach to the deployment of the Hungarian Defence Forces, as in addition to its special capabilities, it also deployed its human resources to complete tasks requiring non military training, in accordance with the Government’s decision.
