Abstract

The aim of my study is to demonstrate the protection tasks and good practices developed for the unknown situation created by the COVID-19 pandemic starting in December 2019, in the light of the measures taken by the Hungarian Prison Service. The construction of the Kiskunhalas Mobile Epidemic Hospital (hereinafter: Epidemic Hospital) and the increase in the prison service production capacity for health protection equipment has become essential as a result of the pandemic. The wellequipped 150-bed Epidemiological Hospital, and the amount of protective equipment distributed to healthcare institutions in a short time have made a worthy contribution to the protection of society and to the safety of its citizens. The production of face masks with the employment of prisoners, as well as the production of other protective equipment, became part of the state’s self-sufficiency. The Epidemic Hospital closed on 31 May 2021, however, the institution may provide an opportunity in the future to be ready immediately in the event of a new wave, a new pandemic.
