Operation and experiences of the classification system of inmates

Abstract

On March 1, 2024, an amendment to the Prison Code entered into force, fundamentally changing the professional framework of the prisons in several key aspects. The purpose of this study is to briefly present the operational aspects of the classification and credit system introduced by the amendment as well as the transition process and challenges associated with the new legal environment. The study also provides a concise overview of the background and reason of the amendment, the methodological framework of the classification system, the classification levels, and the experiences gained during the first year of implementation, along with directions for further development.
