Technical prospects and observations after introduction of precision agriculture at Pálhalmai Agrospeciál Ltd.
Abstract
Precision agriculture (PA) is considered a paramount innovative achievement of our time. By incorporating several technological
aspects, it combines site specific processes conceived at the early days of arable farming with the expected productivity of modern agriculture, achieving a more economic resource management. This complex system employs both positioning (GPS) and geographic information systems (GIS) in order to help control and precisely carry out spatially repeated processes, both which are already implemented, and those that are yet to be implemented by producers. Pálhalmai Agrospeciál Ltd. introduced certain elements of PA in 2014. We have observed qualitative and quantitative improvements in sectors of our company that adopted site specific cultivation practices. It’s also important to note the need of a change of professional attitude on the management and operative levels in order to efficiently
implement the presented technologies.
