The impact of innovative technical solutions on detention security

Abstract

The topic of my study is the introduction of innovative technical developments introduced in the recent period in the Hungarian Prison Service and their applicability. The study focuses on the impact of technical novelties on the security of detention, their role in the prevention of extraordinary events, and their assistance of the executive staff in the day-to-day service. In the study I research the adequacy of the relevant normative background I study the public law organizational tools and organizational regulations relevant to my topic. In addition, I used my experiences during consultations and conferences held on the topic. Specific improvements will be presented, such as the mobile application for the detention facilitation system to be used by the guards during service in prisons (named SAFE, based on the Hungarian abbreviation), the application called Navigator, and the web shop-like closed inmate parcel delivery system. As a conclusion, I am looking for the answer to the question whether in the recent period the Prison Service has handled sufficiently and effectively the development the innovative tools and systems offered by the technological revolution of the 21st century.
