Interior design of secure prisons

Abstract

What’s the role of an interior designer during the process of prison designing? How do interiors communicate with inmates, staff and visitors? What tools are in the hands of the designer when designing a secure prison? The functionality and good functioning of the interiors are made up of many factors. Transparency, hygiene, maintainability, well- functioning furniture, long-term sustainability and safety are not contradictory. Good interior design solutions need to find the right solution for all aspects at the same time.
