Secure detention – Improving the security elements of the Hungarian prisons

Abstract

The public policy objective pursued by the Hungarian Prison Service is to contribute more effectively to maintain law, order and security, and to strengthen the security of
detention, to guard, to supervise and to control convicted prisoners and other detainees; to prevent the prohibited items entering the prisons; to prevent detainees from committing crimes against each other; to perform inmate suicide prevention more effectively and to accomplish successfully the tasks of achieving the full employment of convicted prisoners. The concept defines innovative technical principles, based on the logic of those principles new, unique in the field and forward looking integrated security system will be created in the selected Hungarian Prisons, vast majority of the implementation is carried out using our own resources, including the professional work of the prison staff and the prisoners’ trained work.
