Time Planes in Music

  • Sándor Kovács

Abstract

The concept of time planes is usually encountered in the analysis of literary works. This study aims to show, by means of three examples (Liszt: Chapelle de Guillaume Tell, Haydn: second movement of Symphony No. 104, and Shostakovich: first movement of Symphony No. 5) that the phenomenon can also be demonstrated in the analysis of musical works.
