Dohnányi Ernő a New York State Symphony Orchestra élén
Absztrakt
Mindeddig igen kevés információval rendelkeztünk a zongoristaként és zeneszerzőként világhírre szert tett Dohnányi Ernő karmesteri tevékenységéről, s különösen azokról az alkalmakról, amikor külföldi együttest irányított. Jelen áttekintés Dohnányi 1925 végén, a New York State Symphony élén betöltött kéthónapnyi elnökkarnagyi működésének feltérképezését tűzi ki céljául. Tanulmányomban a zenekar történetének és repertoárjának, Dohnányi műsor- összeállításának, valamint az együttes és új karmestere recepciójának áttekintésén keresztül mutatom be az Egyesült Államokban 1921- től zongoraművészként sikeresen koncertező Dohnányi tevékenységét. Összefoglalásomban különös figyelmet fordítok az akkor néhány éve Budapest első zenekarát, a Budapesti Filharmóniai Társaság együttesét irányító karmester műsorkoncepciójára – s ezen belül is a hangversenyeken elhangzó magyar művekre –, valamint az amerikai sajtó véleményalkotására.
